Biological Information

Background Information:

N-Terminal 6His-tagged, recombinant, full length, human VRK1. VRK1 is a serine/threonine kinase involved in cell cycle regulation, DNA damage response, and chromatin remodeling. It phosphorylates several nuclear proteins, including p53. VRK1 is overexpressed in a wide range of cancers including lung, breast, head and neck, colon, liver, gliomas, multiple myeloma, esophageal carcinomas and virtually all hematopoietic tumors. It also has implications in neurological conditions, including pontocerebellar hypoplasia, a disorder characterized by structural defects of the pons and cerebellum.
