Background Information:
U-18666A is a small molecule inhibitor of cholesterol transport from endosomes/lysosomes to the endoplasmic reticulum in a variety of cell types, including macrophages and sympathetic neurons. Also weakly inhibits hedgehog signaling. Implicated in multiple diseases including Niemann-Pick disease type C (NPC), Alzheimer's, cataracts, and atherosclerosis.
