Biological Information
Background Information:
Src is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase from the Src family kinases that regulates a wide range of cellular processes including proliferation, survival, adhesion, migration and invasion. It is activated following engagement of many different classes of cellular receptors including immune response receptors, integrins and other adhesion receptors, receptor protein tyrosine kinases, G protein-coupled receptors as well as cytokine receptors. Aberrant activation or overexpression of Src is observed in many cancers (eg. breast, colon, lung, pancreatic) and is associated with enhanced metastasis, angiogenesis and therapeutic resistance.
