Biological Information
Background Information:
JTV1 (p38) is a structural subunit of the multi-aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase complex. It plays additional regulatory roles beyond translation, for example stabilizing p53 by inhibiting MDM2-mediated ubiquitination and degradation of p53, thereby acting as a pro-apoptotic factor. It also mediates ubiquitination and degradation of FUBP1, a transcriptional activator of Myc, leading to Myc down-regulation which is required for aveolar type II cell differentiation.
