Biological Information

Background Information:

N-terminal 6His-tagged, recombinant, human WNK4, amino acids 1-444. WNK4 is the serine/threonine protein kinase component of the WNK4-SPAK/OSR1 kinase cascade. It acts as a key regulator of ion transport in the kidney, particularly sodium and potassium balance, by modulating ion channels and transporters. Mutations in WNK4 have been shown to cause familial hyperkalemic hypertension, an autosomal dominant form of hypertension.
